ROOFSIT 2010 FOR CHILD ABUSE PREVENTION

14th annual event hopes to raise community awareness

June 21-25, 2010, South Bend  - Beginning Monday, June 21nd at 6am, for the 14th consecutive year U93, WNDV-FM will donate an entire week of on air time to help educate the community and raise donations for educational and preventive programs in the Michiana area.   Rob and AJ of the U93 Morning Crew will live and broadcast live from Martin’s Supermarket roof at State Road 23 and Ironwood for the entire week.

The week is filled with real people affected by child abuse and neglect, and some of the counselors, nurses, doctors, lawyers and agencies that help to educate and battle this dire tragedy in our community.  Along with on-site donations and local business contributions, there are many special events to raise money during the week. They include:

Tuesday

June 22:

Annual RoofSit golf outing

Wednesday

June 23:

Kids Day with performances and activities going on for kids from 10-4.

Thursday

June 24:

Our first RoofSit Cornhole tournament

Music from the Rick Clifford Band

Candle light vigil starting at 9:30.

Friday

June 25:

The grand totals are announced and the guys come down off the roof.

We are asking for your support to help generate the much needed community awareness to stop child abuse in Michiana.  To schedule an interview with a counselor, nurse, doctor, lawyer or agency representative, please Jennifer Pickering, Program Director at Prevent Child Abuse St. Joseph County.

To date Roofsit has raised over 1.6 million dollars to aid in the fight against child abuse.  All monies raised stay within the U93 listening area.

Help be a part of the solution.  It shouldn’t hurt to be a child.
