U93 kicks off annual RoofSit campaign to help prevent child abuse

From their studio to a grocery store roof, Rob and AJ from U93’s morning show are getting the word out about child abuse.

Being hoisted up to a roof before 6 a.m. might not be everyone’s idea of a fun morning, but these guys are taking it to new heights.

It's all for the 14th annual U93 RoofSit. The Martin’s on the corner of State Road 23 and Ironwood in South Bend will be home to these guys until Friday night.
The guys are broadcasting for 12 hours a day and collecting donations for local organizations, to raise awareness for child abuse. SOS of Family Justice Center, St. Margaret’s House, Hannah’s House, Boys & Girls Club of St. Joseph County, CAPS: Healthy Families, YWCA of St. Joseph County, Women’s Care Center and Healthy Families of St. Joseph County all benefit.

"Being an uncle myself, I see the preciousness of being a child and how special that is. And I hate the thought of any child not being able to actually enjoy their childhood, and we want to make sure we do what we can to stop child abuse and help kids have a better future," Rob said.
The event has raised $1.6 million to date.

All of the money raised goes directly to those in need in the area.

Folks can stop by, place donations in a bucket, then send it up to the roof.

There are also daily events this year that the public can join in the fun with. Tuesday there is a golf outing, Wednesday is kids day and Thursday there is a cornhole tournament.
